Chengannur assembly election 2018 results was published on 31/5/2018. From beginning of counting postal votes to votes in electronic voting machines (EVM) the lead was maintained by LDF candidate Saji Cheriyan. LDF’s candidate Saji Cheriyan won 67303 votes with 20956 votes lead, UDF  candidate D Vijayakumar won 43526 votes and BJP candidate PS Sreedharan Pillai won 32561 votes.

As vote counting progressed Saji Cheriyan always had a lead of more than 20956 votes and this built up confidence among LDF supporters that they will win in this by-elections at Chengannur. When Chengannur assembly election 2018 results has been published it is sure that LDF candidate Saji Cheriyan will be new MLA of Chengannur.

Campaigning and voting at Chengannur was very competitive in which political parties like LDF, UDF, BJP had very good expectations. All present political situations in Kerala was against ruling LDF government. But they gained confidence in their campaigns at Chengannur and was able to win a good vote share from this Assembly constituency.

Counting of votes at Chengannur Assembly constituency began at 8 am on Thursday, 31st May 2018. Chengannur elections was held on 28th May 2018. Polling percentage at Chengannur during by-elections was higher than votes received during Assembly elections in 2016.

Chengannur By-Election result 2018 will have a great impact on ruling LDF government during May 2018 in whihc it is completing it’s 2 year term in Kerala. This will be considered as an assessment evaluation of LDF Communist Party by voters.

By-Elections at Chengannur became necessary when LDF MLA K.K. Ramachandran Nair passed few months back. Through this by-elections LDF candidate Saji Cheriyan won this seat again and secured it for LDF government.
