Latest education news on 4th April 2018 was regarding UGC making Kerala Distance education courses invalid. Distance Education Bureau (DEB) under University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to increase minimum standards required for an University to conduct courses. Correspondence and Distance education courses validity from academic year 2018-2019 in various Distance Universities located allover India will be affected based on UGC (Open and Distance Learning) Second Amendment Regulations, 2018.

As per latest news only 60 Universities in India has got UGC approval to conduct Distance education courses in India based on NAAC rating. From now on only Universities in India which have at least A plus grade in NAAC rating will be eligible to conduct these courses. NAAC rating is made by National Assessment and Accreditation Council which determines quality of education provided by universities.

This new amendment of law by UGC Distance Education Bureau (DEB) has made parents and students concerned about which Distance education Universities are approved by UGC’s DEB wing. Many universities in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal have lost their approval to conduct Distance learning courses.

This makes it important to know about Distance education courses validity from each University before you plan to join these courses. Only 60 Distance learning universities have been approved to conduct Distance Graduation and Post graduation programs in India. Based on present notification by Distance Education Bureau these universities will not be able to conduct distance learning courses in Kerala. Government of Kerala had planned to start an Open University few months back which has not been completed yet. Even if Kerala Open University is started it will not be easy to get UGC requirement of A+ grade rating from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

A plus grade of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) will be given for Universities which have 3.26 points and more.

  • Kannur University – Not Valid as per UGC
  • Kalady Sanskrit university has 3.03 points

Around 1.72 lakh students were studying in Kerala distance education courses in past year. As Kerala universities have lost their accreditation around 1 lakh people will have to depend on Distance education universities in nearby states like Karnataka, Tamilnadu.

Percentage of victory in Kerala SSLC results 2018 will be announced soon. All SSLC exams for 2o18 March is coming to an end and everyone is waiting impatiently for publishing results. There is 0.61% decrease in pass percentage this year when compared to last year. Date of announcing of Kerala SSLC results 2018 will be known soon. Kerala SSLC results 2018 for academic year 2017-2018 was published on Friday, 5th May 2017 at 2.00 pm. Results of Kerala 10th Standard (Class 10) Examinations is most awaited by students. Admission, Allotment application processes for Kerala Plus One classes has started. Last date for applying for allotment application for Plus Two batches in schools is till 22nd May 2017 (This academic year date in 2018-2019 will be updated soon).

All SSLC students who have got their mark lists, grades and passed in all subjects can apply for higher education in Plus 1 batches. Total number of students who attended Kerala SSLC results 2018 of examinations in March 2018 is 4,55,906 (4 lakh Fifty Five thousand Nine Hundred and Six) students in regular stream. Along with this 2,588 students have done private registration for attending Kerala SSLC exams in 2017. There were total 2933 centres in Kerala state, along with 9 centres in Lakshadweep, Middle-East.

Last year in 2016 exam results was published in last week of April. In 2016 SSLC results pass percentage was 96.59%. This year Kerala education Minister said that evaluation and tabulation should be done carefully without any discrepancy. So this year Kerala SSLC results 2018 was published by Friday, 5th May 2017 (5/5/2017).

Through a press conference on 5-5-17 at 2 pm Kerala Education Minister C Raveendranath will announce Kerala SSLC Results 2017. Kerala SAY examination dates will be updated soon by Pareeksha Bhavan after results of SSLC are announced. SAY exam is a important opportunity for all SSLC failed students in same year to apply to reappear for a chance to pass. If they pass in SAY exams they can go to higher courses for Plus 1 admission.

Kerala Plus One Admission Dates

Date of Kerala Plus 1 allotment for admission starts from 1 May 2017. Till 22 May 2017 (22/5/17) all SSLC pass students can apply for allotment procedures.

Trial allotment list for Kerala Plus 1 admission will be published by 29 May 2017. First allotment will start on 5 June 2017. Plus 1 classes are expected to start from Wednesday, 14 June 2017.
