Till now Aadhar card has been used for linking bank accounts, mobile phone numbers .etc. in India. From 1 October 2017 Aadhar number is made mandatory for getting death certificate. This could be the biggest revolutionary decision made by Government of India. There will be lot of disputes that will raise due to this implementation. Death certificate of an individual is used for lot of things and is an important document for getting family property, bank account claims .etc.
With making Aadhar number compulsory for issuing death certificate ( मृत्यु प्रमाण पत्र), there will be many advantages and disadvantages. Last date for issuing death certificates without an Aadhar number is 30 September 2017 (30-9-2017). After this last date only for applications with Aadhar card number a Death certificate will be give. This new rule will come into effect from 1 October 2017 (1-10-2017).
All Indian states are not included in this new Aadhar card rule. Exempted states from filing Aadhar number for getting death certificates are Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Meghalaya. What is reason for exempting these states from making Aadhar number mandatory for getting certificate (आधार नंबर मृत्यु प्रमाण पत्र) is due to lot of difficulties in implementing it there. This new decision was announced by indian Home Ministry on Friday, 4 August 2017 (4/8/17). Identity of a person who passed can be established only through the 12 digit unique identification number in Aadhar card from 1-10-2017 (1st October 2017).
This new rule has raised many questions in minds of millions of people of India. Among them major doubt was what to do in case a person does not have a Aadhar card number or you don’t know his or her Aadhar number. What is the step to be followed in this situation.

A certificate has to be given by person who gives application that this deceased person does not possess Aadhaar number to the best of his/her knowledge. This was informed by Registrar General who cleared this doubt regarding issuing death certificate in certain circumstances where there is no Aadhar card number available.
